SOTO Group of Alcoholics Anonymous
Corvallis, Oregon
Service in Alcoholics Anonymous
Thinking about the order of A.A.'s Three Legacies of Unity, Service and Recovery, it becomes clear that it is only through our unity and service that individual recovery becomes possible, now and into the future. And with that individual recovery comes the individual responsibility to help ensure that A.A. remains united and continues to make recovery possible, now and into the future.
A Declaration of Unity
"This we owe to A.A.’s future; to place our common welfare first; to keep our Fellowship united. For on A.A. unity depend our lives, and the lives of those to come."

A.A.'s Responsibility Statement
"I am responsible, when anyone, anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of A.A. always to be there. And for that: I am responsible."

How You Can Help
If you are interested or want more information, please send an email to sotogroup.dist21@gmail.com, and stick around for the monthly Service Meeting after our first regular meeting of the month!
Our Monthly Service Meeting
The Soto Group's monthly Service Meeting, or Business Meeting, takes place immediately following the first regular meeting of the Month.
This is where we get together and make sure we take care of everything the group needs to function smoothly and talk about how we can do better.
Everyone is encouraged to attend - we don't want to have a small core of "old-timers" making all the decisions for the group - we need your input!
"In A.A., everything starts with the group — it is the place where recovery begins for most alcoholics and is the basic building block of the entire Fellowship. But, for a group to keep going, all kinds of service must be done."
"It takes member participation to ensure that group service work is done....Traditionally, rotation ensures that group tasks, like nearly everything else in A.A., are passed around for all to share."
The A.A. Group...where it all begins
"Our Twelfth Step — carrying the message — is the basic service that the A.A. Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence. Therefore, A.A. is more than a set of principles; it is a society of alcoholics in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither and those who haven’t been given the truth may die."
"Freely ye have received; freely give...We alcoholics see that we must work together and hang together, else most of us will finally die alone.”
"...a society without organization, animated only by the spirit of service--a true fellowship."
